Mine (2011) has 185K km on it, all in D.  It's a brilliant engine.

Same clutch, same turbo, no major issues.  Just change the oil regularly and maintain it as scheduled (cam belts/water pump etc).  If you can't find service history for this, do it first thing.

General Discussion / Spare Wheel Holder for Spider ...

Folks, my 2001 Spider is missing the black plastic spare wheel holder that secures the spare to the boot bulkhead. Does anyone know of an Australian source for these? Or is there some klug that I could fabricate to do the job?  They are available in Europe but I would rather not pay ridiculous prices for something so simple. Any ideas?

Hi to all,
I have a 4 cylinder Alfetta GTV brake booster with a GTV6 master cylinder, I have noticed when I put my foot hard on the brake pedal the car does not want to stop. Is a GTV6 master cylinder compatible to a Alfetta GTV brake booster. The rod between the two has no adjustment.

Queensland / Guilietta QV

Hey guys, I came a 2013 Guilietta QV through my work at 'sell any car fast' and I'm seriously thinking about keeping it for myself.

Are the 1.7t's a good engine? It's only done 90,000km but the paint is a bit average.

Milar, It's great that you were aware of the Multiair filter, many people never change or clean it.  I would also recommend cleaning the banjo bolt oil feed line head into the turbo.

Selespeeds have a bad reputation in my opinion, based on my old Citroen Pluriel experience.  I own a 2001 916 Spider and the manual is easy to live with, but of course it has no hill holder, so you need to be aware of that.  You have not said which engine your looking for, but in my view the 2L Twin Spark is pretty well built and can last a long time with proper maintenance.  Hard to find a good V6 916, and handling wise they are not as balanced as the 2L in my opinion.
The 2L 916 with the manual roof will give you less trouble, and expense, than the electric roof versions, IMHO.
In looking for  916 Spiders on Carsales, be aware most of them will have problems, I know this based on six months of searching.  Many problem preclude interstate registration (especially NSW) where a Blue Slip is required. Things like oil leaks, and dash warning lights, will fail a car, and require fixing prior to registration.  Good luck.

General Discussion / SPIDER 916 AIRBAG LIGHT RESOLV...
Last post by Glend - April 30, 2025, 07:42:10 AM
I finally got my MultiECUScan tool adaptor cables and using the Red cable on the diagnostic port, was able to reset the Airbag Trouble Code (DTC).  The actual source of the DTC was the Pre-tensioner on the drivers seat. It was simply dirty, from 25 years of neglect i suppose. Removing the yellow seat connector near the buckle, under the black rubber cover, and spraying both sides with contact cleaner was all that was needed.

I did the water pump, timing belt, multiair filter, oil filter, oil, new coolant reservoir and coolant over the weekend. Spark plugs still in the post, but they will be done soon enough.  Now I can get on with the fun part!
