The video is slightly deceptive - I was actually braking as I turned into turn 1, and then hard on the throttle as soon as I dared. It doesn't look like it because the car just doesn't have the grunt to make much headway against the hill.

Yep I know that one.  I'm flat on the throttle from the moment the car turns in, but I'm still scrubbing off speed most of the way through turn one.

I'm probably scrubbing too much speed off at the entry to T1, because as you point out I have plenty of road available on the exit. The feedback is good - lots of things to try next time out.

Ah - I removed my post when I re-read it cause I thought in hindsight it was a little, well, dogmatic.  Glad you took it the way intended. 

Breaking down the track to me the two corners that make it are turn one and Lukey's.  Get them right and its a like a good round of golf.  Get either wrong and anything can happen and it has to many of us over the years.

The other observation I would make is that we've had good access to the place for 20 or so years now (I think it was 1989 when it was reopened) but with the increasing development and better roads going in I get a niggling feeling that eventually it will go the way of Oran Park.  We're really lucky to have such a great, permanent, international level track so close and to have someone like Lindsay Fox prepared to put money into it.

I would like to second that. Nothing made it more clear than being at Sandown a few weeks earlier, with its very poor track patch work surface, espeically between turns 1 & 2.

No worries - one of the things I'm enjoying is that everyone's happy to share insights and suggestions   Unfortunately I don't play golf, but I think I know what you mean.
