Hi folks,

Just thought I'd point this out in case anyone is interested...

There's been a lot of interesting discussion on  the alfabb recently surrounding the Motronic 4.1 system fitted to the 75 / 164 models. Of particular interest has been the work of an Alfisti in Sydney who's disassembled a large component of the motronic code - and  looking at modifying the code to allow diy alfisti to tune / datalog their Motronic systems themselves,  as opposed to a 'chipping' type service, if you know what I mean.

He's been particularly selfless when it comes to publishing the code / tables / ECU logic  in the thread as well...    As a by-product of the thread, he's developed a small circuit to allow Carb conversion twinsparks to easily control the VVT via RPM X Load (as the motronic does) instead of just locking the VVT on, or running it off an RPM switch only.

Worth  a read through,  particularly recent posts  - he's looking to gauge interest / beta testers etc ...     It seems as though there's many areas where changes to satisfy emissions requirements at the expense of performance can be modified, from spark advance curves down to the logic behind the VVT.

The work is mostly TwinSpark centric at the moment, but there seems to be very similar potential for the Motronic V6 controllers as well.

here's a link to the pointy end ...

Its been a great contribution by Festy over on Alfa BB. I  have been following it with interest as the thread has been pumping along in the last few weeks. Unfortunately  i get a bit left behind on some of the technical stuff. It will be even more interesting when he gets someone to be his guinea pig and run it live.  Staying tuned.
