I have recently done a timing belt and water pump change on the ALFA 166. I documented the job, took some photos - and for what its worth - have put it here:

Well done Ric
Good to see you went through with the replacement of timing belt on your 166, as you indicated in a earlier post and commend you on an excellent detailed description of the process for forum members to utilize in the future. The point you make at the end of your presentation “AFTERWORD” is so true, as I continually have practiced this philosophy since my apprenticeship days as a Fitter and Turner.
cheers

On a 166 you have no idea how spoilt you are for space and room to get at things, take a look at a video/photo tutorial of a belt & pump change for a 156/147 GTA.   :o

The open wheel archway on the 166 is an open spacious cavern in comparison.

Well done, and done properly, and a very nice tidy car to boot!   The 166, the "Cruiser" of the Alfa world.

Just one point, why on earth, being such a capable person with an eye to detail, did you not, while having them off, paint, pimp & detail the camshaft covers, coil covers & Plenum?  (Was that a loud DOH! I just heard?)   ;)

I'll definitely do it next  time! - actually, for the next service, I think I will do the valves as well. I let them go this time but next time will be it. Thanks for the cheer :) RT
