159 spider and GTV RED KEYS can be copied !!!

After buying my Alfa at auction, I was a little disappointed it only came with one key.

I know the hassles regarding the in-built security chip, and losing the one and only key that I have, and I was planning on a workaround..... but I was in Chadstone shopping centre (Victoria,Australia) as I passed a key cutting stall, and I thought, what the hey, I'll just ask them and see what they say.


I was quite surprised when they said they could cut me a key AND program the chip all in one quick step, and all for $90.

I was even more surprised when the key actually did work, and started the car.

The key cutter had an electronic box that he put my original key into. It must have read and saved the security number. The newly cut key was then placed in the same box, and wirelessly programmed to the new key code.

The store is Mister Minit . It's a chain of key cutting stores but the guy that runs the Chadstone outlet is the guy to talk to if you have any problems at other outlets.  Hope this helps others in the same position as me.
