So i have been very lucky to acquire a 2001 Spider 916 with a 2L Twin Spark engine. Deceased estate and it had been in storage for several years.  Here is my concern, it has 199,000kms on the clock. I have done the timing belt service, balance belt, and water pump, and new Spark plugs.  It seems to run great, does not smoke at all. I did a bore scope exam when I was putting on the new belts, and 1-3 cylinders looked great, number 4 had evidence of oil fouling but it had been running fine. Post the service it runs like a sewing machine, smooth. Should I be concerned about the kms on this engine? Internally it seems clean. It does have a rear main seal leak, but a new cam cover gasket solved the top leak. I have put ATP Reseal through it and it pretty much stopped the rear main leak, just a drop or two after a long drive.  It is not burning any oil, no smoke or any colour, head gasket seems fine.  So advice, leave it alone? Or?  I intend keeping it.

IMHO, its fine.
As long as the service and oil changes were kept up and the right oil was used, then 199K isn't that much.

My Peugeot 306 did 330Ks before it went to heaven and the motor will still going well. (the electronics were cactus though).

Modern oils are pretty good these days, cars can go on for a lot more than they did in the past.

As long as its not burning oil your ok, just keep an eye on the oil levels.

My car has only done 158K and I change the oil & filters every 10Ks and the gearbox oil every 2 or 3 years.

When my mechanic uses his oils (10w/50w) I have to top up at least once between services.

But If I do the service, I use Penrite 10w /60w it never needs top-up between oil changes.

Ahh, why doesn't your mechanic just use the correct 10w60 oil?  ???
