Opening a Spider roof - manually?

How to open a 2006 Spider roof - manually?

The Owner's Manual describes the method to close the roof manually, but advises:
"Emergency opening of the top shall be carried out at Alfa Romeo Authorised Service".

Is the process simply the reverse of closing?
Or is there more to it ... ?

Oh, and I'd like to be able to close it again afterwards too, so not looking for drastic measures - yet ;-)
