What sort of car would you like, hatch, sedan, coupe, tractor?

Hi Renato

I might be just a little biased but I reckon that 15K would buy you a very nice 116 series GTV6.
Rear wheel drive, one of the sweetest motors, comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids even on a long drive, charismatic, gorgeous Guigiaro styling, not too expensive to maintain (can do basics yourself). Mechanical parts seem to relatively easy to source.

Yes, I know the gearbox is a bit clunky but I still think its a wonderful car.

Cheers
Alan

thank you Alanm i will look into that model i also came across a 156 GTA i am having look at on monday will let you know what happens

I'd stay away from a 156 GTA at anywhere near 15k. What about a top notch 3 litre 75? If you had to go auto then perhaps a 164Q?

You could also get a really nice condition 166, nicer in many ways to the 164, which is somewhat dated now.  You could also get a late series GTV6, albeit it has front wheel drive, but they are still heaps of fun to drive.  Even if you couldn't find a nice 156GTA, you certainly could get a really nice condition late series 156 JTS.

Going on that you have a Super already, you could always add a very nice 105 GTV to the stable.

Choices, choices !!

As long as you know the service history a 166 would be a nice car. Good suggestion David!

If you can stretch the budget a bit you can pick up a 147 GTA with the q2  already installed for around 18. Drawbacks are the impractical 2 door and uses a bucket load of fuel. Positives are that it will rock your socks off with acceleration and the sound it makes....oh and those seats in it are amazing...and its drop dead gorgeous to look at. Despite the little annoyances, I still get that excitement every time I get in it.

I doubt that you could pick up a similar performing car at this kind of price.
