GTJ1300

Hi folks,
just a little note to introduce myself. I've always lurked here, so now it's time to act.
So, where does one start?
Ohh yes, I have a 1970 GTJunior 1300 step nose. Strangely with the breasted instrument cluster? Some say a Mk4...
It requires a little work. well, make that alot!
Some days, I want to keep it...some days I want to sell it. Today I want to keep it.
Hopefully, this forum will be a means to turn things around.
Cheers,
Steve

Welcome Steve.  I think the Juniors from that era had those dashes as standard anyway.....didn't they?

There is a guy who is wrecking one of these (see the buy/swap/sell section) if you are in need of some parts to keep the motivation level up!!

Hi there Steve.

Come along to a Club night or hope to see you at an EMR or the 105 Series Workshop.  You may want to come along and check out similar great cars as well.

Cheers.

Always had a soft spot for the drop nose. Seen some pretty ones over time. Regrettably, my last one is now touring around in the UK. Best wishes on the project.

Hi GTJ1300 and welcome.
Nice choice mate especially fond of the stepnose Junior.
The late stepnose Juniors from 1969 had the 1750 style dash without the centre console as did the smooth nose juniors. Its one of the nicier dashes i reckon
post some pics sounds like a fun project, dont forget the 105 series workshop nite on the 22nd May

Hang on guys, and correct me if I am wrong but didnt all stepnose 105 GTVs irrespective of engine size come with the earlier instrument pods (as per the original dash style) rather than the post 1750 instruments (ie. large tacho and speedo).  If so, then I would suggest that perhaps this car has had the dash replaced by a later model dash (eg. 1750, 1600 GTJ.  Either way, still a nice car to have and worth enjoying.  Dave

The change to 1750 type dash occured on the stepnose GT 1300 junior in 1969 (the 1750 GTV was in production by then) and this continued to 1970 (series 2) when it was replaced by the smooth nose GT 1300 Junior which looks identical to the GT 1600 Junior (series 3) which is pictured in my thingy here on the left

Thanks gents,
great to feel welcomed!
I really do want to keep it as a project. I'll have to do a budget when I get close to doing the resto work.
- pep105: I remember reading a guilia book about the later junior dashes being installed. And you are spot on about no console in the car. Just the cigarette ashtray right under the handbrake!
I'll post some pictures when I get a chance.
Cheers,
Steve
