Does anyone know a reliable value for money Melbourne based interstate car transporter?

Might seem left field, but depending on how far interstate, I had a great experience with Dazmac who ship by sea on roll-on roll-off vessels. I shipped from Perth to Sydney, and it was delivered in good shape in 2 weeks. You can pay up quite big $ and get a curtain truck service, which protects from sun and dust (to a degree). But for less than half that price, being in the hold of a ship seemed less risky to me and worked out fine. You can also put spares in the boot if you detail them in a packing list. Most car transport services don't allow that.

Choose P&S Logistics for interstate car transport. They are best, reliable, and much cheaper than others.

Depot Address: 2 Macindoe Ct, Spotswood VIC 3015
Website: https://pslogistics.com.au

They also offer door to door service with an additional fee but still they are affordable. You can get quote online from their website.

I recently obtained quotes from several interstate car transport services, to move an Alfa Spider from Melbourne to Sydney.  Just Google interstate car transport to go to the quote pages. The lowest cost options are always one where you drop a car off at their depot and collect from their depot on the other end. Door to Door transport is more expensive, typically $120 to $300 depending on distance from the depot.  Budget transport between Melb and Sydney was around $400, depot to depot, provided you were willing to wait for space, which could take 5 or more business days.  Be aware that they all charge a premium if your car has less than 150mm of ground clearance.  In my case, I was looking at close to $900 to ship a Spider from Melb to my house on the Central Coast of NSW.
An important consideration, cars being shipped to NSW, must pass a NSW Blue Slip Insoection before they can be registered in NSW, and many VIC cars i looked at, and had inspected prior to purchase, could not be registered in NSW (the big fail points are any dash lights, typically check engine and airbag lights, and any evidence of oil or fluid leaks).  Sadly I had to give up on VIC Alfa's because of the NSW Blue Slip requirements. I ended up buying a NSW registered Spider. Good luck.
