Hello all,
I was thing of getting a VRS set from EB,s in the uk .
can anyone else suggest a shop with good quality gaskets ?

I am steel not shour how it happen ? I drove about 50k's at 100kph at 300rpm in fifth gear.
Number 1 cylinder has a ticky tapered but when the oil pressure gets up i no longer hear it .
but this time I could clearly hear somthing was up ,but had to get home to pick my son for school at 3.
So I was in a rush ,and number 4 cyl got damaged .

From the photo it looks like cyl 4 has lots of clearance on the exhaust lobe.  Is that right?  A broken valve spring could account for that, or the timing could be out and you have a bent valve that doesn't close properly.  Do the cam timing marks all line up?

For the gasket set, what about Turin Imports or The Spares Place? They're both in Adelaide.

yes that right Scott ,lots of room I could drive a bus in there.
Could I just remove the rocker gear to fix that spring ?

The valve spring can be removed without removing the head, so you can avoid spending more money on a gasket set you don't need. I only suggest doing this if you have good compression still on that cylinder.

You will need to compress the valve spring and remove the retaining collets to swap springs. You cannot do this simply by removing the rocker. You need a valve spring compressor. I do mention again, it can be done WITHOUT removing the head.

Please be sharing with me this valve spring compressor that you speak of, 'cause I've been attacking my (off the engine) cylinder head with 1 of those 'on engine' valve spring removal tools and I can't quite get both collets out. Maybe its just the orientation of the spring, but I can't get enough 'squeeze on' to let me get both collets out (the tool gets pushed against the inside of the head and slightly side loads the spring retainer so I can't turn the collet).
Either way, its a prick of a job on the 12 valve V6's.

Duk , mits bits use an old spark plug body holed out with an air pitting brazed in so that you full the cyl with air.
Thank for the help It made get into action .
The valve was open 3mm so a compression test won't work so I had to bite the bullet and remover the head.
Well thank guy but I think a pic say's more .

Yes number one photo is a bit blurred but I had the camera in one hand and the head in the other, so sue me.
I found that small bit of metal under the exhaust valve so I promptly removed it for your viewing pleasure and took a photo of it in my hand.
The small bit of metal looks like a valve keeper but none of mine are missing so it must have fell in, last time the head come off .
I been through all the paper work that came with the car and found a invoice from jul 7, 2001 from IL Portello service center.

My dad and I have checked the valves by tuning the head upside down and pouring fuel into the valve recess and with both valves clogged no fuel leeked out .
so I think I with re-fit the head and do a compression tested and see what happens.
