I guess everyone has different needs, to determine what is 'best':
*cost
*availability
*brand loyalty
*city driving/cold braking
*enthusiastic/light track braking
*heavy track braking
*dust
etc,etc

I personally favour Ferodo DS2500, which I'll be fitting to at least the front calipers, and will buy from EB Spares, UK. I'll try and get some rear DS2500 too, but they'll be doing less work, so less important. Next level down are DS Performance, which I also rate highly, and still meant to be superior to OE pads for higher-temp braking and suit city driving no probs.

I use Race Brake's RB74 pads in my Volvo 4 piston/slotted 164 rotors and was impressed by their cold brake performance and stopping ability, even better with some warmth in them but I haven't used them all that much.
I've not been impressed with the EBC Greenstuff pads in my Skyline 4 piston caliper equipped S13 Silvia or when they were in the front of my MR2.
