Hi,

I'm looking for some help from a specifications expert.
I have a 1977 Alfetta GTV - Green in colour, but what Green is the question.
The compliance plated is stamped 7/77 and the chassis number is AR116370002957
I have treid looking for the colour code on the label on the inside righthand corner of the rear hatch, but alas there is no label there.

I suspect that the colour is "Verde - Pino" or AR216
Does any expert know what colours were being delivered at this time in Australia.

Thanks,
Alan.

Alan,

If you send an email to the Archivio Storico Alfa Romeo including your chassis number, they will send you the original delivery details, including the original paint code.

Here is the reply for my 1977 Alfasud Ti:

QuoteDear Mister Bottcher,

with reference to your request we are informing you as follows.

According to our documentation files, the chassis number AS 5468250
originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Alfasud ti (901C), manufactured on
the 3rd June 1977.
The body colour is Alfa red (AR 530), with grey cloth interiors.

Yours, Sincerely,

Evan,

Thanks, but I have tried that and below is the response that I received.

I'm very sorry, but the information regarding this car is not available.
Try to contact an Alfa Romeo owners club and compare the paint colour.

Yours, Sincerely,

Seems that that the record for this car is not avaialable.

Okay - can anybody post copy of a paint colour reference chart?  Preferably from 1977.  Perhaps a brochure?

Alan do you have any digital photos you can post?

cheers,
Evan.

Evan,

I have a couple of sample swatches that I found on www.alfabb.com

The 216 looks more like the colour, but I am a bit wary of comparing a computer screen or print out to the car as a definitive check, as colour balance can vary so much.

Alan.

Verde Inglese and Verde Muschio Chiaro (which are basically renamed/recoded versions of each other) are generally quite consistent colours - that is that they are dark green, pure and simple, in most lights and situations.

Pino verde is a very unusual colour, it has quite a high blue content, and as such on a car in sunlight or natural light it can look very light and almost turquoise, whereas in studio shots or low light it will appear a darker and fuller green - its actually quite hard to tell VI/VMC and PV when thats the case.

Hope that helps.
