147 Alarming problem?

Hi all,

This might be a stupid question but does the 147 have an audio alarm?  I've never heard mine make so much as a peep

If it does what does it take to make it go off?

Edit:

To clarify, RTFM indicates that there should be a siren and warning lights flashing for 26 sec.  Also that there should be 'beeping' when locking and unlocking the car; mine does neither.  Could the speaker have been deactivated?
