Hi, I have a 147 with over 250000Km on the cloak. It still runs well; however, it is using an excessive amount of oil i.e. 1lt/500KM. My questions are, are engine overhaul kits available, does anyone do exchange engines and are new engines available?

Before doing anything may I ask what oil you are currently using?

The oil specification for this engine was changed to 10w60 more than a decade ago.

The current specification is 10w60, I usually use Penrite or Castrol as these oils are PAO/Ester based, or if your a Mobil fan you could use Mobil 1 10W-60.

I have had several clients complaining of high oil usage while using the 10w40 grade oil, and changing to the 10w60 has almost always rectified the problem.

If oil usage is the only issue with the engine then changing to the updated 10w60 might be worth a try, it's cheaper than rebuilding the engine.

As an addition, the answer to your original question is yes, there are suppliers that can provide you with all the parts required for an engine rebuild, head gaskets/Piston rings/Conrod Bearing Shells and anything else you need.

Try Arese Spares in Sydney (0411 123 640) or Italian Automotive Spares in Melbourne (03) 9036 1606.

But give the oil change a go first, hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.
