I've installed a Dension ipod connector in our 159, and very happy with it.  It replaces the input for the CD changer, so to listen to your ipod you switch the stereo to 'cd changer' and control the music on the ipod/iphone.

Although the speaker system is Bose in your 147, I believe the head unit is by Blaupunkt.  You can go here to check the compatibility with your specific head unit (http://www.dension.com/downloads/car-compatibility) - click the button "go to selector" and it'll guide you and show you the different head units.  Having said that, I think the same Dension unit fits all the variants.

I bought mine from a local company: http://www.cushieaudio.com.au/vehicles/alfa-romeo.html?car_kit_features=777&manufacturer_alfa=590

The cheaper model is cable only - you plug in your ipod/iphone to listen to music.
The more expensive model includes bluetooth wireless and a hands-free microphone.

I wrote up a bit about installing it here: http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=10181.0
