Title: Forum upgrade 2012-10-20
Post by: Evan Bottcher on October 20, 2012, 09:25:27 PM
Hi folks,

You may notice things look a bit different.  I've upgraded the forum to the latest edition of the forum software.  The upgrade was necessary as the old version we were using was pretty neglected and was becoming a security concern.  Apologies for the inconvenience.

As part of the upgrade we've unfortunately lost the 'AROCA division' custom profile field.  I'll look into that.

Shout if anything else doesn't work.

cheers,
Evan.

Hey Ev!

Noticed that when I click on unread topics, every topic is now unread! That's a lot to get through! haha

That's odd.  Not happening for me.  Anyone else?

Try marking all as unread, and see if they come back?

Fun.  The upgrade disabled the security question on the registration form - so I started to see a flurry of spam registrations!  Stopped now.

Looks great, doesn't use the whole screen on the iPad though, is there a stretch for real estate button (or sum such)

I'll have a look into that Craig.  I'll have to wait until my son is asleep, so I can use my iPad...

Thanks for the comments guys.  Trust me it isn't that much work  8)

The forum software hasn't changed much since we installed it in 2006, just security updates and patches.  It's about time I got off my butt and tested the upgrade to smf2.  I'm actually testing a migration to vbulletin, which would allow for user image galleries and much expanded profiles - but having trouble getting it to migrate attachments and avatars correctly...

Us IT workers......are great at making/saying simple things out to be more complicated that what they are  :D + also making an absolute meal of simple things at other times  :o

Cheers
