Title: Stepped rivets!
Post by: Polyal on September 20, 2012, 09:12:56 AM
Going on from my other thread I have sourced multiple door locking rods/mechanisms and want to disassemble them to make a good one.

So if it wasnt trying enough to get the rivet out without destroying it..it happens to be a "stepped" rivet...question is..where can these be brought?

Below are some pics..

How do people put these back together? The clearance on the section that has the spline is tight as it sits flush against the inner door.

I have thought about boring out the hole on the spline section to match the hole on the end of the rod so then I would use a simple bolt/washer/nut.

Preference would be finding a similar rivet though.

What do you guys think?...
