Title: What WRC drivers do on their day-off.

I won't embed the video, since it looks better on the site.

Jari-Matti Latvala driving in an historic rally in an Escort.  I actually had to stop the video half way through to take a breath.  It's incredible.

Jebus, I see what you mean !     This bit had the heart rate up:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=EWBOKD6fGu0#t=207s

Looks like he lost a gear there around the 12:16 mark - and then just keeps up the awesome with what's left.

8:30 to 8:50 was what really did me in.  Full noise, sideways, in 5th gear.  I don't know who has bigger balls, the driver or the navigator.

Yep, and doesn't seem to slow him down too much.  Might have ruined his rally though.

I've seen a lot of in-car footage, but this is probably the best.  In My Humble Opinion.

I have a cramp in my pelvic floor from the pucker  :o  That is incredible.  What's the guesstimate of road speed at those revs in top gear?

Dunno but would think pretty fast, especially on gravel, would be about it !

I'm no expert, but I would be guessing it would be geared to around 200km/h or so?  A bit later on, about 9:30, it looks like he is near the top of the rev range in 5th gear, and it looks pretty quick, I would guess around 190-200km/h?  So he must be doing 170-180 as he's sliding it through those corners in 5th.  Damn freakin scary looking anyway.

On the SBR this year, we'd go through the odd corner at about 140km/h on the gravel or dust, and that was pretty scary.  We had about 50km of run-off though.  He's got about 1 metre.
