Is there anyone who lives or works near Arncliffe and knows a bit about 156s? I am interested in purchasing this car but I would like someone to have a squiz before I travel all the way from Canberra. http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/alfa+romeo/156/sydney/detail.aspx?id=36608566&lid=36608566&pg=1&pp=4&d=0&from=53
Please PM me and I'll give you my number,
thank you,
Nigel
Wow, a bit of negotiation and that's potentially a fantastically good buy (presuming it checks out ok). Good luck.
It has been there for months guys ...tread cautiously.
I think it started a little higher than 6999
Cheers,
Andy
Hi Andy
Is there a known problem with this one, or are you just wary of it having been on the market for a while?
Cheers
Rory
Hi Rory,
Not anything I'm aware of the dealer was a little less than helpful when I quizzed him about it months ago.
There is a better one (IMO) that the seller started around 8,200 but has recently re-listed elswhere at 9,700.
I must have frightened him into changing the cambelt is my guess.
It's a 156 Monza '02 with a 2.5L Busso, 6 Speed Manual, Silver with Grey Leather but NO Q2 and from memory 16" Teledials (A Silver da Silva!)
It's also on drive Nigel and I'm just a newbie at this used Alfa lark, but it's a better car, less kms and in better nick (from photos only)
Given my obsession with red alfas.
I was going to go and look at this very car and the red one,you mentioned too, but I think from a 1000 kms away I would have given the silver one the nod.
Although it does little to advance Nigels need for a "Tyrekicker" but if there are two in the mix to look at it could be enough motivation to go himself.
I also know of a 156GTA for 15K if interested?
Cheers,
Andy
I'm a silly ol' fart forgot the hyperlink!
here you go

I've had the same response from this dealer as 'Gotta B Red'. The Boyz who wander the slaes yard with their bling and goatees didn't seem overly enthusiatic at grabbing a sale. As I mentioned on your other post Nigel, be cautious with this yard...
