Is there anyone who lives or works near Arncliffe and knows a bit about 156s? I am interested in purchasing this car but I would like someone to have a squiz before I travel all the way from Canberra. http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/alfa+romeo/156/sydney/detail.aspx?id=36608566&lid=36608566&pg=1&pp=4&d=0&from=53
Please PM me and I'll give you my number,
thank you,
Nigel
Well its a manual, which is a great start! Looks like a nice car...these 156s are just getting so cheap now....imagine what the dealer paid for it. He has it advertised for 7k so will take 6, meaning he probably picked it up for 3k.
As for this car, like everyone will tell you, find out when the belts were done and if you can sneak a peak at the service books, perhaps call the place that used to service it and see if they can give you any background on the car.
Failing that called Andrew at Alfamotive, just down the road in Sydenham - he'd charge you a fee but he knows these cars inside out.
Not sure if you went through withy the purchase. I was in the market for another vehiccle just recently and spotted a couple of potential buys at this car yard, Rockdale Auto Traders at Arncliffe. My experience at this yard has left me with a bad taste, to the point I feel the nedd to warn others to be very cautious. The car my wife was looking at was tucked away at the very abckof the yard, we arrive at 3pm and ask for a test drive and we are met with "Ewww, how serious are you about buying. There's a fewcars we'd have to move" with disbelief I asked, "what do you mean"..."well, are you serious about buying it?" and with that we turned and left. The day prior we were met with similar disinterest, though not as bad as this final time. The 'boyz' at this yard don't really seem keen on a sale, normally you can't walk onto a used car yard without being harassed and stalked. It gave the wife and I the impression that the yard was nothing more than a front for alterior motives. I think I read else were of someone elses similar experince at this yard. Can't say what the cars are like, if the sales people are an indication, this place is doggey.
