Title: 164Q Problem starting (has fuel & spark)
Post by: Mika on June 17, 2012, 01:48:56 PM
My Q is occasionally reluctant to start, it is as if it is getting too much fuel, when it does start it seems too rich and is reluctant to idle smoothly and extra throttle seems to make it worse. Once driving it is generally okay.
To me it is like there is an enrichment device that is staying on,

Does anyone have any ideas?

Other than this occasional problem the car drives very nicely

Had a similar problem with mine that was caused but a small vacuum leak on one of those small hoses connected to the intake plenum.  The hose had a small split at one end which was hard to spot initially but must have been letting in some unmetered air (after the AFM).  Check all your connections in this area for splits/leaks.

Thanks Stu,

I will take your advice and check this area and let you know if I have any success. BTW I had a gooey roof console, I got a replacement out of a normal late model Q, not gooey at all.
