part 1, I have rego on the car yesterday took it out for a spin and blew the clutch salve cylinder hose, so that will need to be fixed. asap
part 2,today well the clutch has proven a BASTED of a thing we have good pressure in the line when the new pipe is clamped but when released it has no pressure, the peddle drops to the floor.
Please need help - any ideas how to fix?
Cheers
here some photos of an idea i had to force the fluid throught the line, but still trying to make that idea work.
Pic of a way i have tried but not yet mastered
one more pic of my effort to push the fluid through the lines
In my experience, once you release the nipple you need to push the pedal to the floor as fast as possible, nip it up, release, repeat, etc. That's worked for me in the past, usually takes about 5 good fast pumps before you start to get a pedal. It's not like bleeding the brakes.
When a fair bit of air gets in i have found that removing the line from the master cylinder, getting a funnel with hose line attached, hook funnel up to hood and keep the fluid going thru while someone else pumps the pedal, once you get a good pedal feel, reconnect the master line and bleed as normal :)
well yesterday I was getting no when fast, I had no pressure on the clutch peddle at all so i disconected the master cyclinder. To see if i could get pressure i put my finger over the metal pipe and got nothing. So I blew that out with compressed air with bleeder open and heaps of junk came out. took off the rubber hose and sucked the fluid through with a rubber hose to that point and finally managed to get fluid from the tank to the end, the whole system but still no pressure on clutch peddle!!!!!
So now the plan is to rekit the master cyclinder and see if that is the problem. What do you think? There is nothing else it can be surley. Could it be the cotter pin on the peddle?
cheers
Sounds like you are on the right track but as you now know the hose has died, the master rubber bits have died - guess what is next on the list...You might want to think about doing the slave as well.
Then you should be safe in the knowledge you won't need to touch the system again for a long while.....
thanks darryl for the suggestion, thanfully i had a freshly kitted slave cyclinder in the shed to once we do the master cyclinder then the whole system should be good for a long time (well my wife hopes so anyway).
Thanks for your imput guys, it really helps.
Hi ,
I've had fun haha (not) i got the master cylinder out ! put in the new kit and putting the "egg " car back together .
tunes out the piston had jammed in the cylinder ,and the fork had a littile were in the pin hole.
hi today,
I've put the car all back together and it all works fine (brakes, dash ,etc) but still not clutch ?
I have very littile travle on the pedal ?Not enough to engauge a gear any gear .
not sure what to do now. help i'm losing me hair :-\ :'( ???
recently ive been having a real hard time bleeding the clucth on my vt ss, story short (after replacing mastercylinder and installing bleeder extension ect..) i bought a vacum bleeder from sprint auto parts, it simply puts a vacum on the bleeder nipple, then add some pressure with the pedal (3 pumps) crack the bleeder screw and lock off amlost instantly. i found after 3 goes of doing this all air was completly out of the system. maybe applying the same principle to the alfa clutch will work? ive never had touble bleeding them the convetionial pump pedal crack bleeder method....
thank's brad for the input , i can sympathize with you for such a simple thing what'a headache .
found this page look's like what I'm going thought.

I with let you all know what happens.
cheers
So i took the master cyc to a local mecanic who took it apart and found that the seal kit had one seal that was too loose on the piston so i sent it back to Power brakes, and they are sending back the correct one. then hopefully all will be completed.
Clutch Kit arrived - Fitted and now drives like a dream (like willy nelson said 'on the road again')
In the end I got frustrated and syringed fluid through the system and the air went up out the reserve tank, did that twice and now is brilliant.
Finally, Just in time to take it to adelaide for a road trip.
I replaced the clutch master on my daughter's 1981 GTV last week and had the same trouble bleeding it. We still had no gears on the Thursday night. Due to other commitments we left the car with the rear jacked up until Monday and lo and behold, we very quickly got air out of the slave and and the pedal came up beautifully. The car now has its gears back. The air must have found its way from wherever it was trapped, back to the slave cylinder over those few days. Perhaps this is another effective method for bleeding these things successfully.
good to here mate, the more ways of bleeding that dam clutch the better I say.
