Title: Thermostat housing
Post by: 1750GTV on June 10, 2012, 01:09:36 PM
Doing the annual water change and hose inspection and I think that my thermostat housing has seen better days.

The engine is a late model 1750.

Does anyone know where I can get one. I've looked at all of the usual websites.

Any help is appreciated,
Chris

Supercheap have a range of thermostat housings, you never know you might find one, but don't ask the staff, Colin.

Standard 105 thermostat housing which can take any generic thermostat ie Holden or Ford.

Many 116 Alfetta also switched to these when their housing with in-built thermostat goes bad.

Getting a bit rare I am told, but give Hugh a call at Monza Motors 03 729 9946, they will have some.

Thanks - some of the auto shops are open today, so I'll have a look around. Otherwise it'll be a secondhand one but I'm sure I'll find something that fits.

Colin, shall I tell the guys at Supercheap that you sent me ?

Hey 1750GTV, at my local Supercheap, they are all young part timers, that don't know a lot, at my Repco place, they are all old grizzled auto spare parts veterans, that know their stuff, looked on ebay under thermostat housings?, a few potentials there, Colin.

Done the rounds of all of the auto spares shops this morning with no luck - actually found some helpful staff though, both young and old :)

There are quite a few the same shape but unfortunately too small or too large.

I'll try to get a secondhand one sometime this week or look at getting the old one repaired, if possible.
