Title: Radio controlled Alfas
Post by: ACE on January 28, 2012, 11:20:34 PM
Hi,

I tried to order one of these mitos (http://www.alfaaccessories.com/Alfa-MiTo-Radio-Controlled-Car?category_id=44) but apparently they can not deliver to Oz  :(

Does any one know if they are available anywhere in Oz?

Thanks,
Ace

PS I REFUSE to do fleabay - so unfortunately that's not an option for me.

You can try Modelmania in the city (may be only die cast) but Aladins Cave have a dedicated radio controlled range of products.

Thanks John,

Modelmania does not appear to do RC and Aladdin's Cave [Gallery] doesn't show much on the web or have any sort of search facility  :(

Might have to get a ticket to the UK - makes the toy a bit more expensive though!

Cheers,
Ace.

what you need to decide is if you want petrol or electric, the one cool jesus linked to is electric, if you use that sit and type alfa you get their full list, i have the petrol 156gta only the bodies are availabe now, so what you can do is buy and petrol or electric car and then simplely buy the body to fit on it,

Here's another same price. Granted its more than the 12 gbp, but once you add postage you'd be looking at $80-$100 AUD anyhow. These units would also be a lot more fun speed wise...

Petrol, is the way to go. It can be a real pain at times, but there's just no comparison. I have a subaru wrx, 4wd (ie all 4 wheels are driven on the model), I have an exhaust piece which extends to the back of the car (rather than the side as normal) at it just looks, sounds and goes just like the real thing. Unfortunately I snapped the conrod on a too lean fuel mixture.

When I lived up on the central coast, our street all had these cars. My neighbour and I were the only ones with petrol cars and they were just sooo much more fun then the electric versions, wheel spins, drifts, 4 wheel slides.

On this comparison, petrol is more expensive than electric... and the ones that ACE is looking at you could play around at the office and have cubicle races with along a board room desk which would break up the day inside.

I started a helicopter school and stunt concourse with those mini IR helicopters at work.

Its not a bad merchandise site too by the way. Its now on my favourites list for future reference...

Hey Guys now you are on the money!

CJ that first pic you posted is a Fiat, "if I am not very much mistaken" - as my favourite F1 commentator was want to say!  ;)

Problem is it's not actually an Alfa! AND its just a tad more than the one I had my eye on  :(

I'm not debating the merits of these other wonderous toys, but!

I tried to order two of the Mitos (from the site that doesn't want to do business with me) to see how they go. The intention was to get a "few" more, if they pass muster. So low cost is critical and the small size is crucial - for what I have in mind  :D

Suffice it to say that "cubicle races ... [ or] ... along a board room" is not too far off the mark  ;D

However the http://www.alfa-models.com site is still very interesting! I have found a couple of other items for future reference too. So thanks.

Cheers,
Ace.

Yeah, seeing the abarth decals made me think twice on that first model, however the store has it marked as a Mito. Anyhow, have fun...
