Title: Manual/auto engine compatability?
Post by: Berlina man on January 27, 2012, 08:35:17 AM
Hi all

I have a 73 Berlina 5 speed manual daily driver and also a 73 Berlina auto.  Looking to swap the (strong) engine from the auto into the manual car (tired engine).

Does anyone know whether this is a straightforward replacement, or are there compatability issues?

Cheers

Don

Exactly the same,,EXCEPT will need a hole drilled in the back of the crank, for a spiggot bearing.
Im talking original here, cause maybe at some stage, the auto engine was replaced with a manual engine.
Getting the crank drilled might become a problem.
All really straightforward, unless the home mechanics have improvised things.
