Title: Amazing kids Alfa book
Post by: Sheldon McIntosh on January 26, 2012, 12:04:21 AM
I managed to acquire an incredible kids book today, titled Nuvolari and the Alfa Romeo, by Raymond Briggs and Bruce Carter.

Published in 1968 (and mine is a 1st edition), it tells the story of the underdog Nuvolari pitting his Alfa against the faster Mercedes and Auto-Unions at the Nurburgring in 1935.

"Tazio Nuvolari was the greatest racing driver in the world.  But he was getting old, and so was his car.  His bright red Alfa Romeo looked high and old-fashioned on the front row of the starting grid, between the two silver German racing cars."

"Nuvolari's trouble was his car, not his age.  he was a patriotic Italian and he loved Italian cars.  But his Alfa Romeo was no longer fast enough.  The new German Mercedes and Auto-Unions were faster and they were driven by young, keen men determined to beat the old veteran, Tazio Nuvolari."

Man, I can't wait to see what happens, what a frickin sweet book!!

I think you've got your wires crossed Null. Your probably thinking about that old bloke in the red car trying to keep up with his son🐫😄

Great find Sheldon, would be a much better bedtime story to read than the current 'Octonauts' or 'Aliens love underpants'  :D
