I bought some bits and pieces from this guy last year and after a bit of chit chat he thought i would like to see his GT in the garage. This is a machine built to the highest standards with all the good bits, see subito corse and neat as. Pitty most of its Ks are on the dyno.

Its an awsome car with some impressive work done to it, I guess its worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
If it sells for anything near that price it gives us all hope that our alfetta's are worth the effort we put into looking after them.
I wish the seller all the best.

It came down from Sydney to Canberra last year so some road miles clocked up.
I think its great that someone is willing to put that much effort into an alfetta, there are a few modified ones getting around these days.

The value of something is only what somebody is willing to pay. If you wanted to build a similar car then the answer is yes however 40k is alot of alfa. It would be good for all alfetta owners that this skyward trend is continued so dont hold back and get the ball rolling!

If you want something like that I don't see how you are going to get it for under $40k - there is some very serious gear and engineering on that car. Finding a buyer at any given time might be hard - but that doesn't mean the car isn't worth it - pretty small supply and similarly small demand - might take a while to find the buyer - or maybe there's someone out there who has just been waiting for something like this to come up... I don't think the price (note reserve is over $40k, so we don't really know) is at all unreasonable in the broader (ie not just alfa's) modified / performance vehicle market, not that I'm any sort of expert.

We are all entitled to our own opinions I will keep mine to my self, but I believe it will be take some time before it gets sold. Not many people can afford to splash 40k cash on a car these days.

Is it worth 40K?  Probably.

But I wouldn't attempt to extrapolate the results of this sale to the sale expectations of your average near-concourse Alfetta.  Entirely different markets.

I know the owner very well.

The car is insane. To look at. To hear. To ride in. It spins the wheels in third and no one would look twice at it on the street.

It is worth way more than 40k- if you had an inkling to build a hi-po Alfa of this quality, you wouldn't get change for 60k- seriously!

It also comes down to if you pay someone to do the work for you do it your self, even a paint job can cost up to 40k these days.

The funny thing is, the only thing this car is comparable to is a Street Machine style car- a Shelby replica or maybe even a top shelf RX-3 with a full resto and all the good bits on it.

You could drive this thing from inner-city Sydney, interstate, do a track day, then eat your dinner off the engine bay.

If I knew he was going to sell it, I wouldn't have started restoring mine!
