Title: 147 rear bumper inserts
Post by: tony8028 on December 29, 2011, 08:06:58 PM
My wife backed in to wall while maneuvering one of her touch parking techniques and it has grazed the bumber as well as the little rubber insert on the rear passenger side.

There is only a light scuff on the bumper itself but the rubber insert is noticeably grazed.

I was wondering whether these are available seperatley either from wreckers or as new spare parts - or do you have to buy the whole bumper?

OR...can rubber be 'buffed' to smooth off these rough edges?

thanks Tony

Try getting some 'wet and dry' abrasive paper from an automotive store and using rough paper remove the graze out of the rubber, then progressivly use finer paper to remove the big scratches with little scratches, until the finish and shine of the rubber matches the rubber strip, failling that, try calling a few wreckers to see what they want for a second hand bumper that they might have the correct colour, or see if they will sell you just the rubber strips themselves, try polishing the scratches out of your bumper and see how it comes up, a rello of mine has a 147, and he put parking sensors on it, that actually work quite good, because she who must be obayed, likes to squeeze 'Bella' into tight spots!, look on the Alfa Club web page for wreckers, Colin.
