Hi All,
Does anyone know if it's legal (ie street legal) in Victoria to remove the front and rear bumpers from a 105 stepfront? I much prefer the "GTA look" of the 105 coupe without bumpers, but I don't want to run foul of the law. What have others done in this regard?
By the way, I've searched the VicRoads Web site, any there's nothing there about removal of bumpers. The closest reference is to ensuring that there are no sharp protrusions on the car which would injure pedestrians.
Regards,
Nick
Not required under Vic Roads 'Roadworthy' requirements.
My car was bought and sold "bumper less" and I was never hassled by Vic Roads, men in blue or the RWC inspector.
I have been told however that by the letter of the law, if the car was first registered with bumpers then they should remain on the car. I have also owned MG's without bumpers and had Ford TwinCam Cortinas and Escorts with eithe no bumbers or the next to useless bumperettes and have never had any problems.
Thanks... maybe I'll try to get the car re-registered without bumpers and see what happens. I can always put them on for registration, but not too tightly.
Very interesting - I have a cunning plan. does anyone know the story in Qld?
