Title: Windscreen Wiper Arms
Post by: BBRT on November 03, 2011, 02:11:11 PM
G'day,

I want to replace the wiper arms on my 81 GTV with ones that take a modern type blade. The ones with a hook for example.

Does anyone know of an arm from another car that will fit?

Cheers,

Do you want to replace the whole wiper arm OR just the blade assembly, if you want to replace the blade assembly, go down to Repco with your wiper arm and see what they have in stock, i have found TRIDON to be good as they come with a lot of brackets and connectors to adapt their wiper blades to your arm, or at least thats what i found the last time i purchased some TRIDENT blade assemblys, it always amazes me how complicated wiper blades can be, to hold a piece of rubber, Colin.

Colin,

The arm, one end attached to the shaft at the scuttle, the other end has the blade assembly.

We were discussing this subject at Spectacolo, and the problem is that there are some very ugly wiper blades out there, a change to a flat blade  makes all the difference, as for the arm, anyone out there have any ideas?, Colin.

Get a 75 arm, then you could put the flat blades on them since they are a j hook style. If the 75 arm is a little short you can always put a longer blade. I find bosch make the slimest flat blades. I bought a set for my sister's car from the uk cause everywhere i went, no one stocked bosch and the generic repco, trident brands looked too big and bulky.

I used these guys and they were ok to deal with. Took 2.5 weeks to get here though. http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/

And how does it wipe?, i know sometimes when you change blades they start to chatter and are noisy and lift off the screen over 80 kays and don't wipe properly, BUT sometimes a change in wiper blades can fix all this, and the flat ones  look a helluva lot better than the high standing blades, Colin.

I put a set of 75 arms on my daughter's 81 GTV and they work perfectly. We haven't needed to put longer blades on them so far because my daughter is happy with them as they are. They are far better than the originals, even with my used Bosch blades on them.
