Title: Spider Roof Trouble
Post by: djm411 on July 10, 2011, 05:27:22 PM
Afternoon All,
I have been having some troubles with the roof on my Mum's 2001 V6 spider and am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. The back part of the roof unlatches and lifts no problems, however the cover which is then supposed to unlatch and open up so the roof can fold away won't unlatch. I can get it to work every now and again by loosing the nut on the motor that controls this latch but it seems like a somewhat bizarre solution. I've lubricate the latches on numerous occasions too so they are not sticking.

Thoughts anyone

Thanks

Without knowledge of specifics, I can say that after some years, spider owners have reported issues with the electric roof operation. It just wears out.  In some instances the motor is replaced and often with one from a current model vehicle.

Contact The Italian Job in Clayton (Vic) and ask their opinion as they are spider specialists.

They have even produced an after maket fix for worn plastic gears attached to the motor - they have made metal ones that naturally are a bit better and long lasting.

Let us know how you go !

Cheers

Did you have any luck with this one... sounds like your problem was the latch mechanism see link
