Title: Cheap stiffer suspension
Post by: Sheldon McIntosh on July 06, 2011, 05:00:54 PM
Forgot to post this previously.  An interesting technique to stiffen up coil-sprung suspension that I came across on the Shitbox Rally (many, many teams found that once loaded up with gear their cars' suspension was too soft - glad I thought of that before I left), is to fill the springs with tennis balls.  Apparently it works really well.

This one is a work in progress, to get the full effect the entire spring needs to be full.  Would this get through scrutineering?

Game, Set & Match. Thank you ball boys thank you Sheldon.

Seriously this sort of Australian  lateral thinking never ceases to amaze me.

To play this type of tennis, you really DO need fuzzy balls.

...and if you think you are getting lost, you can leave a trail of balls behind you!
