Hi,
I'm procrastinating with the metalwork on my '66 Duetto restoration and buying shiney bits as motivation. I've just discovered that my original headlamps are LHD and incorrect, ie. my Duetto is RHD :D
(thanks Patrick and Derek)
So... Wanted; new/old stock '66 Duetto headlamps, Carello part number 08.480.700
Any leads or information as the whereabouts of said shiney things greatly appreciated ;D
I've just scored some original teardrop indicators, so on a shiney roll,
Cheers
Craig McLeod
Hi Craig,
Ive restored 2 osso di seppia spiders over the years and after extensive searching all over the world 08 RHD Headlights are just not obtainable new . Dont drive yourself nuts , just put the 07s in (with the correct script of course ) I mean how often are you going to drive the thing at night ?
Cheers Frank .
Frank, they can be found with a fair bit of searching. I got a NOS pair this year and I think Pancho found a couple of pairs. And I will be driving my Super every weekday after restoration is done. I'd hate to be afraid of driving my car whenever and wherever I want. Fair enough to baby a SS but most other 105s should have regular exercise. My opinion only of course!
I could restore my 07.LHD ones, but I'd much rather have 08.RHD ones. It would just niggle with me and is why I'm going to great lengths to source as much OEM bits as possible (sans paint and engine).
Besides, a nice fella from Canada has already contacted me requesting first dibs my LHD ones should i get find the correct ones. It's a very small world this Alfa community and I've recv a lot of good info and help over the last 25 years, be nice to help some one similarly on the other side of the planet :)
I have a few leads, am prepared to pay good money for correct/perfect lamps. It seems a reasonable approach given i have thrown the resto. budget out the window already ;D
What cars were these fitted too ?
Craig
Just purchased two 08.480.700 from the Italian Job in Melbourne and your hopefully in luck as they had two left last week - not cheap though but Sam & Charlie are good guys. Agree with Frank's thoughts as original lights for 60's Alfa's are becoming rarer than hen's teeth! Only options left for NOS are non internet advertising old Alfa suppliers. As Derek stated, just need to contact many suppliers.
All the best and love the Duetto's!
Paul
Thanks Paul, great news!
