It could be the same as the 12v which is 41mm or 1 5/8"

that is correct, at least on the 2.5 24v v6 - 41mm socket...

its a tough nut to crack...

best bet 6 point socket and air impact wrench...

Thanks Guys,

I will buy one tomorrow. :)

I am changing the timing belt on my Alfa.

I am up to the stage of removing the crankshaft pulley,
Have the cam locks in place and no 1 piston is at TDC.

I have got to admit the Alfa 3.2 V6 engine is a piece of art/ Great. ;D

Before you fit the cam locks, have the crank nut loosened otherwise you could strain the cam belt and cause the belt to jump a cog and cause low speed valve piston collision, spray the crank nut with WD-40, use a pin punch or screwdriver to tap the nut to "shock" it, then have the car in first gear and sitting on the ground and loosen it off, you could try using a paint stripper heat gun on the nut to expand it a bit and try going clockwise to tighten the the nut then anti clockwise to loosen it off, and if you had a fly wheel lock that would help even more, yes you are right the Alfa V-6 is a work of art, a real pity they stopped making it and started using "non family", motors when General Motors bailed out Fiat all those years ago when they took a 15% stake in them and the only way they could get into the Italian market was as an engine supplier, Colin.
