Title: Sud 1.2 box anyone &or disc brake set up
Post by: jram33 on February 18, 2011, 11:35:49 PM
Hello,
I'm hoping to upgrade my shoddy 5spd box to a close ratio job abd hoping also convert rear drums to disc set up . Vehicle is a 1991 16v alfa33.
Apologies if this is a repeated topic.
Anyone have the bits?
Cheers

It is a repeated topic, but one with no clear resolution.

Here's the reference I mentioned for gear ratios:  http://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/gearbox.php

I'm not sure, but I think unless you're on the race track the 1.2 box might be too short - 4000rpm at 100kph?

You should also search on these two forums for threads about converting the rear axle to discs:

I believe the easiest conversion is to source the whole rear axle from a P4 33, as it has outboard rear discs with a handbrake mechanism.  No idea how you'd find one here in Australia though.  Maybe Dehne can get you one?

I have a rear disk brake set-up from a 1981 Sud Sprint Veloce. No close ratio box though. PM if still looking.

Cheers Frank.
