Title: Alfa 75 - removing weather shield - driver's door
Post by: AlfaACT on January 30, 2011, 02:20:39 PM
I need to remove the wind deflector / weather shield on the driver's door of a 75.
It looks like it is integrated with the window frame ... ?
So, is it necessary to semi dismantle the door - ie remove all door trim and fittings - before you can remove the shield - as if you are about to remove the window it self?
Or is there an easy way ... ?

OK. It's bonded to the outer fascia. So it doesn't just clip in or out on its own!
So the only way to get rid of it, while keeping the trim/fascia intact, is to cut it off.
I used a thin cutting wheel and ran it around the window frame from the inside - as close to the frame as I could get. Most of the time that was about the thickness of the anodising, but sometimes not :-(  ... but it was on the inside, therefore not really visible :-)
"Anodising"? - yep that nice grey window trim/fascia is Al.

Now how are we all going with those brake questions ... ?
I'd really like to get this black beastie roadworthy.

wind deflector should come out by dismantling mirror with window all the way down.
it mite help to lift out the interior door trim for more room, pull the deflector down from mirror end by
twisting it a touch.
