Title: Whirling sound coming from front end.
Post by: 101phil on October 08, 2010, 03:31:48 PM
Hi guys,

I have a 09 2.2 159 which I love though Im slowly being disappointed with this strange noise coming from the front end. The car has been into the shop under warranty 4 times with the last time the tech from Alfa Sydney came down to look at it. and I was basically called a liar as they couldn't hear the noise after it had apparently been out on test drives through out the day. So I suggested that I drive it and I show them, after driving around for 10mins the whirling appeared. He put it down to the tyres, cause apparently 159s chew tyres and after 20k I should have changed them at least one. They put some 17"s from the 2.4 diesal and after driving a bit the noise came back.

I noticed yesterday that when I put my footer on the clutch the noise goes.

Alfa recognise the noise is there, don't know what it is. Though can assure me that its nothing serious.

Has any one else had similiar issue? or have any ideas on what to do next if Alfa aren't going to come to the party.
