Title: 75 Mould Restoration
Post by: f1worldchamp on September 23, 2010, 04:49:54 PM
What's the best method of revitalising the waist mouldings on the 75? I've got the 3 pieces of the wrap around boot spoiler that I want to fit to my car, but it needs a bit of a makeover first as it's peeling in some places. Can these be painted? I also want to do all the ones on the car at the same time to get a uniform finish. Any ideas?
Thanks

Yes the 75 moulds can be painted. I once got the colour matched as close as possible and simply sprayed them myself.

In terms of preparation, first scotch guard them so they have no shine that way the plastic primer has something to stick on.
Then spray plastic primer and allow to dry at least a day. (more time to dry better the paint sticks), (don't spray the colour straight after you sprayed the plastic primer as it won't stick)
Then simply spray the colour you prefer once everything is dry.

All materials can be bought from a automotive paint store and they should be able to match the colour as well.
I done mine of the 75 when I had the car and last for years. It look very original aswell and I didn't bother taking them off either.

Scotch BRITE  ;D Also, have some flex agent or flex additive put in your paint when it is mixed, it helps the paint stay on as the moulds heat and cool in the sun.
