Title: Mouse Milk
Post by: martym00se72 on September 22, 2010, 11:43:29 AM
Hi,
Has anyone used Mouse Milk to free up frozen nuts etc? Anyone know where to get it in Australia? My Uncle (who has restored a few cars in his time) swears by it and I am about to embark upon the task of replacing 27 year old bushes and not looking forward to the prospect of having to undo parts that have not moved in 27 years. I recently changed the shocks and had to get the angle grinder on to one of the Spicas on the rear and together with the application of unreasonable force was able to get it off - WD40/CRC did not do the trick at all on that one... don't think sway bars and angle grinders mix very well...  :P
Cheers
Marty

Hi Marty

Did a quick check around the buyers here at Repco. None of the regular people we deal with are bringing it in, but it was suggested that Penetrene is a similar product. This is available pretty much everywhere.

There is also an aerosol product available that 'freezes' the nut or whatever part you are trying to undo. The freezing process is said to crack the bond between parts.

Good luck

I recently tried some of the Wurth product, (sorry, don't recall it's exact name) and it was brilliant.  I was getting studs out of a block, and wd40 didn't budge them.  Was about to use a stud remover and have to tidy up the threads later, but gave Wurth a quick go, and they came right out.  Highly recommended.

Wurth products are usually only available to the trade. Excellent stuff if you can get it.

The product Sheldon is referring to is "Rost Off Ice" it is awesome but it costs about $25-30 a can, ouch! but on my car it has saved me from many a skinned knuckle, and I can earn more money but only have so many knuckles.

$30 a can is a small price to pay for what that stuff can do, I wouldn't balk at that price at all.
