Hi
Will a 1985 Alfa 90 gearbox fit a 1981 GTV without many problems?
Cheers,
Anthony
i think were the cv shafts join are different as the ones on a 90 are bigger and you have a different size bolt that goes in they are 10ml hex were i think the gtv will be either 6 or 8. im sure someone has done the same type of thing before but using a 75 or gtv6 box, so it can be done
My 90s use an 8mm hex bolt on the cv joints, they are both 87s though.
I'm not sure why you would want an 85 box though, these were notoriously high-geared and recieved a lot of criticism at the time. If the 90 had the power, with this gearbox it would do 249.1728km/h in 5th, according to my calculations. Are you doing an economy run?
The 1987 model 90 (Super) has the lower gearing, identical to a 75 2.5 and I believe the TS.
bolt the whole trans axel frame up and change the rear hubs. or change the inner drive shafts if you can and the thing that rear axels are bolted to on the hub.
Thanks for all the info. Its not for me im selling the 90 gearbox to a guy with a GTV. I might have to direct him here to read how much effort it is. He might opt out since its so high geared. I wish i didnt take the engine out of the 90 i kinda like them. I want to drive it.
Different size propellar shaft and driveshaft connections.
can you just change the connection of the front of hte clutch housing ?
