Title: 147 selespeed gear playing around
Post by: carduz on August 04, 2010, 02:03:10 AM
I have this problem since i am coming back from overseas, first i need to changed the clutch and done the normal service too. Car drove fine after a few weeks, after that i have noticed the gears change been so noisy just not as smooth as it was. One day the gears just couldn't change at all and the selespeed warning came on. There you go another selespeed problem this time is the accumulator. Get the accumulator done and the car work nicely. Recently i have another problem  ??? and the car stalled at the light and goes to neutral, couldn't start the car at that time waited for a couple minutes and start again. But the next morning the car works fine AGAIN ( i found this very funny and stressful too)  to cut the long story short, it happened again and got the car towed to the mechanic and they couldn't find anything wrong. Car works fine again for the last few days, all the sudden it playing up again. the problem is when it shift down from 2 to 1 the gear seems not in the gear so the car pretty much like jumping and when i put on neutral the engine got cut off(selespeed warning went off) can anyone help me please

Cheers
Ferdi

Hi there.  A non technical reply here - have you taken your car to aan Alfa Dealer  or a specialist workshop ?

http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/content/view/20/33/ (http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/content/view/20/33/)

If you have not, the link has a few places of interest to you and the specialists are enthusiasts who are reasonably priced.  Not all have the Alfa factory diagnostic equipment but the problem should be solved.

That said one specialist workshop said that the selespeed unit will only be reliable/last for 80,000kms and should be fully replaced.  Good if you have loads of money but not for practical motoring.

CHeers.

has the air flow meter been checked some time that will cause the car to stall also the (im pretty sure its called) the flyby wire this happened to my car and you could not start it for a while this is most probably the problem its a easy fix and being that ur in surry hills give rocco a call on 0418410387 he will most likly diagnose over the phone and he has heaps of parts for them to as you can fix this urself
