Post by: Mike on July 18, 2010, 06:42:31 PM
PM me if you know where i might be able to find an engine for sale, does not have to be a runner, nor will it need the spica injection setup and downdraft carbies (but \would consider).

Please PM me.

Cheers

c'mon guys, can't a bloke buy an engine without such speculation?!...Honestly, the conversion would be a while away as I have the turbodelta to do first.  Just starting to plan the build and so need to keep one eye out for an engine.

Not having much luck so far though, can anyone point me in a direction of a partially of fully complete engine?  Or perhaps pass on any wisdom..

what you mean, speculation..... if its already out of a monti shell long gone, then that's were its meant to go... ::)

Well, my mate's got one, and if I can keep up with slowly mixing rat poison in his coffee, then Herr Reiff will be pleased to know that we have a replica in Oz.

Hmmm, unless I sell a kid or two of mine... La Bomba, here we come !!   ;D ;D ;D

Not for sale though, Mike.

Ok Mike, so you want a Montreal engine. Well mate I have found one for sale, or should I say Mark (over in WA) on the BB mentioned one.  He btw is fitting a Ferrari 328 V8 engine into a 105 GTV.   Agh I see that Scuzzy is on to this one too.

The Monty engine is currently for sale in Germany on Ebay.de with a Buy Now price of 2900 Euro or best offer.  Apparently it has no fuel injection, thermostat housing or flywheel.  Supposedly it was working ok when removed.

Might be your best bet since, I suspect trying to find one for sale in Aus would be harder than finding Hens teeth !!

Now and importantly, what on earth do you want a Monty engine for ???  I am sure there must be a plan, which you might like to share with us on the forum.  Dave

now found 2 dressed motors at aruond 5-6k delivered.  Price wise for people in the know on these things, is that about right?  It makes it a tricky decision when its easy to pick up all sorts of v8's are much less that produce much more hp....but the Monty engine just looks and sounds superb, I'm hooked.

sorry Dave, I did mean to say thanks for the link to the undressed engine, I've followed it up, but the guy does not seem to know anything about the motor which is a little risky for my liking.

Hey Mike, not a problem, just shows we all were keeping an eye out for a Monty engine for you. Well done on finding two others. I guess it proves that all sorts of things are out there if you look hard enough.  Not knowing the values of such engines, I would however, think that the $5-6K mark seems pretty reasonable, especially for a complete and running one.  Afterall, think what you would pay for say a V6, twinspark, JTS motor and comparatively speaking they are common.

Am still intrigued as to what you might be intending on doing with such a motor.  Or is it simply to be a static display ?

Hi mike
For you its a tease, for me its a frustration, I see this car on a regular basis and I have watched it rust and dissolve away over the last 20 yrs
The GTV8 idea is one, many of us have had
I have the dollars, the owner wont sell.

Nice Gully, thanks.  Shame it is only the block....thats a very expensive way to peice together a monty motor hey?!

Shame the owner will not sell, and shame to watch that happen, I wonder why the attachment to a rotting car?..Silly question for an Alfa, but that is REALLY rotting!  Devastating.  Think he would notice if the engine went to a better place one night?!!  I didn't say that.

Chased up one other today, but sadly not for sale either.
