Title: TS Bumper Bars
Post by: Duk on July 15, 2010, 02:08:46 PM
Has anybody weighed the non impact type TS bumper bars? I've read plenty of times about them being lighter.
I've not weighed my impact type front bar of my 75, but it is quite heavy for what it is.

Dont know the actual weight but i suspect a TS bar weighs less than half.. I had both off cars at some stage and it was quite a noticeable difference!

Bored at home, so I actually weighed my impact type bumper. 16.2Kg  :o

Nope, just the front 1 all by itself. And that's without the fog lights (which I don't have). You could add an easy 2Kg's for them.

*Front guard with wheel arch flare is 4.4Kg.

In the epic 'Roxanne - budget milano/75 track car' thread on AlfaBB, the chap said his US front bumper was 42lbs (19kg in the real world).

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/milano-75-1987-1989/27358-roxanne-budget-milano-75-track-car-7.html

follow the thread forward to see how he shed some weight.  He cuts the front bumper down to 20.5lbs (9.3kg).

Great thread.

Yeah, I've read most of Jess's thread and saw what he did to the front bar. Wasn't real nice tho. Really want fibreglass bars.
