hi its me again,i have a 1999 156 2.0ts can anybody tell me what is the long black fluid container which is situated on the r/h side of the engine bay  next to the battery and fuse box,it has a cap with a picture of what looks like a rear end of a car with the boot open i'm thinking it has something to do with the transmition fluid?also can you tell me what type of fluid goes in there,i don't have a handbook to tell me.thanks for any help. mick

im guessing by rhs this is when you are in front of the car and looking at it as i think all batts on the 156 are placed on the passanger side if this is right is ur car a selespeed if so its the selespeed oil container and the only place to get the oil from is an alfa dealer or mech
