Hi all,
I just got my 03 156 JTS a couple of weeks ago. I love the car but when it's idle, my car seems to jerk occasionally. It's not a violent jerk or anything but I can feel the difference. Is it a big problem? Should I bring it to a mechanic asap?
Also I've read on the forum that the CAM belt should be replaced at around 55 or 60K. My car's travelled about 56,000KM now. I don't know much about the engine of the car. The timing belt was changed at 36,000km 2 years ago. Should I change my CAM belt now? Any idea how much would it cost?
Thanks
3 years or 60km is the go. So you have a year to go.
Nothwithstanding that, you do not mention a prepurchase inspection or comments from an alfa specialist mechanic.
I suggest you get your car checked out and given the once over by a Alfa Specialist who know the car, give competive priced servicing with the advice and facts you need to know. Belt inspection would be necessary part of a service. The quality of oil is important too.
At least you will know what needs to be done now or in the future so you have options. Refer sponsors link top right hand side of home page.

I suggest Maranello in Brunswick, Monza Motors in Bayswater or the Italian Job in Clayton - just to name a few.
Thanks a lot John! Yeah I did not do a pre purchase inspection beforehand because I bought it from a dealer who gave a 1 year warranty. It's my first Alfa so I wasn't aware of the common faults of the car. I'll bring it to Mauceri Motors soon for an inspection since I stay in Clayton.
Thanks again for replying :)
Hi all,
I've brought my car to Mauceri motors for a check and apparently 1 of my oxygen sensors is spoilt so I will have to replace that. Mauceri is quoting me about $500 including labour to change it.
Is the price reasonable, did anyone suffer the same problem before?
Thanks
Hi.
Just had the same thing done.
I took mine to Rocca Motors in Northcote/Thornbury.
I got both lower Oxygen Sensors changed as there is a bit of work getting them out.
The Oxygen sensors cost $125 each & approx $300 labour
