Title: Dashboard Swap
Post by: Michael F on April 09, 2010, 07:11:33 PM
Hi,

I was wondering how difficult it is to install the dashboard from the 1750 GTV into the "step-nose" model 105 coupe?

Thanks,
Michael.

Whilst i haven't done that exact swap I have put a step nose dash into a 1600 junior (non-step nose) and there was no issue with size and mounting, however there will probably be some fiddling around with the wiring

I guess the real question though is why would you want to do this ??  The original stepnose dash is a perfectly nice design and suits the earlier car. And then there is the question of why would you wish to change the originality of the car. My point being that by doing so you would lower the value of the car by changing over to the 1750 dash.  And I say this owning a series 1 1750 and I do like the dash.

If you have a stepnose dash which is in poor condition, you could always get it restored, in my mind this would be a preferable option.  Just a thought to consider.  Dave

The funny thing is the Gt 1300 Junior (stepnose) from approx 1969 used the 1750 dash

oops Pep, you are right.  My mistake !!!  Sorry if I mislead.  That is correct, the difference being that Juniors didn't get the console as per the 1750.
