Anyone know roughly how much race rubber would be for standard mags on a 75TS.
Just after some idea
Thanks in advance.
Shane
Price is pretty much the same regardless of rim size so depends on brand and budget -
Toyo RA1 or 888's R spec about the cheapest at around $250 each then Advan A048s and Dunlop D01's or its replacement for about $400 each. There is also a Falken tyre.
Traction Tyres in Rowville for Advan, Stuckey for Dunlop, not sure who is the Vic Toyo dealer.
Toyos available from:
Reservoir Tyrepower
273 Edwardes St Reservoir VIC, 3073 Australia , 3073
(03) 9460 5593
or Meridian Motorsport.
If you spend a bit of time on ebay you could get a good set of new 15" tires for $600. They might be a half second slower than the $1000 tires, but if you're just trying to learn......
Oh, and don't forget to get them shaved if you're going to use them for dry weather. But if it's for wet weather just leave them as is.
And the money pit begins......Glad to have you with us Shane.
Go the Bridgestone RE55's.....a great tyre all the way through its life (unlike some of the others that go off after a while). Not the cheapest to begin with, but faster and better value for money. Ring Craig at Trackside Race & Rally (he's in Kilsyth).
At least thats what I found.....
thanks for the advice guys.
Just watering the money tree now :-)
Catch ya
Shane
Shane,
If you think you have been biten by the sprint bug after Philip Island, I would just start competing. Unless your surmane is Weber or Schumacher there is so much to learn & enjoy before R Spec tyres make difference. Money is probably better spent on a good service & tune and good set of road tyres (eg Toyo Proxes). Remember to change all the fluids.
PS : It sounds like yo are going to be a busy boy in 2010 ( Alfa's & Bikes).
Cheers
Gully
ive got a semi slick fedrals on mine and they are $170 each and do the job real well
Dehne, what federal tyre model do you have, and how are they holding up after a few sprints (assuming thats where you use them)
Cheers
Yeh, I agree with Phil Baskett .The Bridgestones are good value when you can do 50% more racing on them as opposed to a say Dunlop or Toyo
they are still good have found them good ill check the typr they are but jim neilson uses them as well
Dunlop DZZ1 are, according to Russell Stuckey, ideal for anyone wanting to do a bit of track work without going to the extra expense of R spec tyres. Performance wise they are rated at about half way between a good road tyre and an R spec tyre and priced to match.
Worthy checking out at least. Have a chat to Russell Stuckey. He is a very good supporter of the club.
