Title: Victorian CPS

Victorian Club Permit Scheme - Proposal for Revision.

After a handful of years, the VicRoads review of the Club Permit Scheme (CPS) has been through the Minister for Roads and Ports and recently been released for a final period of public consultation.  Comments on the potential changes have been invited from car club members, other road users and interested community members.  The committee will be preparing a response for VicRoads on behalf of our membership and as such I am seeking any feedback you, as a member of AROCA Vic, may want to offer on the proposed scheme.  We polled the members in attendance at a recent club night and the indication for support of this proposal was unanimous.  If you wish to express your opinion (either in support or otherwise) on this proposal please send your clear and concise correspondence to secretary@alfaclubvic.org.au or to PO Box 216 Camberwell VIC 3124, please ensure your name and member details are included.  Submissions need to be received by 13th Jan 2010 to enable the committee to have their letter in on time.
It is quite important that the letter the club sends is a clear majority view of its members, so now is the chance to have your say.

Please see www.vicroads.vic.gov.au (http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au) for the discussion paper from VicRoads for details on the current scheme and its proposed replacement.  (Sorry, its too big to attach here  ::) )

I will get this onto the front page also.

Hallelujah

I would implore anyone on Classic Historic or Historic just to vote yes. (The only point that needs clarification is whether the permit is for 90 days or 45 days. IMHO i would prefer 90 days but could live with 45 days. This paper has been the classic "Yes Minister" piece of legislation,  shuffling from one desk to another for years. They could have built the pyramids in the time this has taken to get through and its not there yet.

PS : Interestly in doing a spell check on "Hallelujah" the following comes up on the encarta dictionary:

Hallelujah : Used to express relief , welcome or gratitude  ie "Hallelujah the old car has finally started"    How appropriate.

Paul, FYI the proposal at this stage is to have the permit for 90 days with an option for 45 days.  The reason behind that is for those with more than one car on the scheme (but as far as I am aware, you do not need more than one car to get the 45 days nor are you obliged to take the 45 days if you have more than one car).

After years of watching "nothing continuing to happen". It sounds like we might be getting somewhere.

(Sheldon, I think your bump just poked one of my eyes out)

Cheers
