Many of the older club members will remember Steve Wise. Apart from being an all round nice guy, he was very active in the Victorian Division in the eighties, both as competition secretary and generally in helping many people in the club in any way he could. Those of us who were around then will never forget Steve and his mates, not least David Smith, sedately cruising the streets of Melbourne at ridiculous speeds in either Smithy's Super or Steve's Sud. Or Steve's endless and wonderful projects. Nothing was impossible to Steve.
As I am sure you've figured by now Steve left us last evening and is now back with his old mate. He passed away after a relatively short illness and with his family at his side.
We're all very sad and will miss him dearly.

That's really sad news. As you stated Steve was an absolutely top bloke and there was nothing he couldn't do in that little silver sud of his!
He was great to new members with advice on the speed events and was always willing to help.
His 'contemporaries' can no doubt recount many stories of his exploits in the sud.

Despite being ill Steve managed to make it out to the AROCA Sandown sprint's in September. His enthusiasm for the Marque & the Club was very obvious. It was great to have a chuckle about old times.

About 25 years ago i used to work in Camberwell and travel into the city via Victoria Parade quite frequently. Outside the Banks IT headquarters in Victoria Parade you could always see at least one scruffy Alfa. As the start of a project or a couple of months later it would be looking at lot better or hay ho!! there would be another one. Driving down Victoria Parade East Melbourne will never be the same

The funeral will be held at the Police Academy Chapel in Glen Waverley at 2pm this Tuesday, December 15th.
Condolences to Di and family. When I started in the Alfa club in the early 80's Steve was Mr Sud. He was always full of useful advice on how to get a Sud going faster. Many memories of sprints with him, and high speed runs back to Melbourne from the circuits.
It was really great to see Steve at the 40th Anniversary dinner, and to be able to spend time with him reliving the old days, and to hear about his love of travel.
I have Steve's roll cage in my Sud, everytime I hop into the car, I'll think of him.
